What is style you ask?

I have spent years, and I mean YEARS researching photography. I have found photographers and their styles in my idea of 'okay', 'decent', 'pretty good', 'awesome' and then of course, 'kick ass'. Finding your own style of photography and then your own style of editing is so important as a photographer. I see a lot of newer photographers just click, edit the basics, add their logo and call it done. Which is totally fine, for them. I have a certain look I am going for and I want my portfolio to reflect a certain vision as a whole. Some times I feel like a photography snob, kind of like I am a coffee snob. lol... Just like every person needs to have a personal purpose in life, a photographer needs to have a purpose and a vision. It takes so much time to create and craft your vision and many people, especially new budding photographers don't understand that. They see an established photographer and then get frusterated with themselves because their images aren't turning out like they have seen. I am guilty of this thinking myself. It's taken time to realize that I should ask the photographers I look up to for some advice and input. Don't be afraid to ask, that's the only way you will learn. There will be some photographers that won't share any of their 'secrets' with you, some that will charge you for their knowledge and then you will find those that will gladly give it up. Don't be discouraged if someone tells you 'I reserve the specifics for my workshops.' and then tell you it cost an arm and a leg for their workshop. Just keep looking. You WILL find another photographer whose work you love just as much, and who will be willing to work with you. I am still working on exactly what is my style, but like I said before, I have a certain style I'm looking for. I believe I have found my style, and perfecting it is the next step. Only then will I really know if it's really my 'style' or not.

So happy shooting and editing to all of you and I will leave you with another favorite shot from Baby Allisons gallery. Oh who am I kidding, I can't pick just one. Enjoy!
